The Shift Branding Guide was challenging because at the time it was created, we really did not have much to work with. The movie was extremely low budget, and really all we had was a basic and very boring branding guide previously created, and a 15 minute short with all the wrong actors and color grading that was filmed on a $500 budget.

With the help of Seth Taylor, one of my mentors at Angel Studios, we gave The Shift the face lift it deserved. We studied the script, spent hours at the drawing table with the director, and made countless mistakes. After a lot of back and forth, The Shift finally started to take shape. For starters, the logo got a facelift using Seth Taylor's personally designed typeface. We gave the brand texture, added motifs that gave it a lot more visual interest, and updated the color palette to give us a brand that stands out from the crowd.

This project was extremely challenging given how little we had to work with but how much it needed to look like we had all our ducks in a row. The final product is something I am extremely proud of and a brand that is genuinely fun to design for.
